A GROWING BOUQUET OF LOVE

There’s something especially tender about photographing a family in the middle of becoming. The Anderson family’s mini session at American Fork Beach was filled with quiet excitement, soft lake breezes, sandy toddler toes, and one beautiful little secret finally ready to be shared.

This sweet session centered around their growing family and the announcement of the baby girl they are adopting this September. Their daughter Lily proudly held a tiny onesie decorated with poppies, a meaningful symbol for the little girl they will soon welcome into their family and lovingly name Poppy. 🌾✨ Together, Lily and Poppy already sound like two wildflowers woven into the same bouquet, and this beautiful family is preparing to bring one more flower into their growing bouquet of love.

One of the reasons I love photographing at American Fork Beach is because the location feels like multiple sessions wrapped into one. We began in the wooded tree and stream area, where sunlight filters softly through the trees and creates an almost storybook atmosphere. From there, we worked our way toward the beach and harbor, where the landscape opens into peaceful shoreline views, textured sand, sparkling water, and the beautiful rock formations that line the edge of the boat harbor. Gazing out from the harbor, the backdrop is a stunning mountainscape that at sunset gives dreamy Hawaiian vibes right here in Utah. 🌊

With the recent 4 million dollar renovations and continued improvements to the harbor and beach area, this location has become one of Utah County’s hidden gems for family and portrait photography. The variety of scenery all within walking distance makes it incredibly versatile, from forest pathways to lakeside views framed by mountains and harbor rocks.

Although this particular mini session took place earlier in the evening rather than during golden hour, the location still gave us the most beautiful soft light and calm atmosphere for such a meaningful announcement.

There’s something deeply moving about watching a family prepare their hearts and home for a child they already love so completely. Baby Poppy is already so adored, and documenting this chapter for the Anderson family felt incredibly special.

Sessions like these are a reminder that photographs are more than posed images. They become pieces of a family’s history. Tiny glimpses of anticipation, love, and the beginning of a brand-new story.
